A whole new level to my skill set

Today I got a pressure canner.

This year I got a plethora of carrots, zuchinni and beans from the garden. I filled what little space I had in the freezer with my bounty from the garden. Hubby and I realized that unless we purchase a new freezer there is no way we have room for the amount of stuff we are sure to get from the garden next year.

We pondered it a bit, talked and hubby did some research. We decided to get a pressure canner.

It's a Presto pressure canner. I have a feeling we are going to get a ton of use out of it.

I did my first batch of jars today. It took longer than I thought it would but it was my first time.

I told hubby that I think I know what I want for Christmas -- a larger pressure cooker. This one is the 16 quart.

I have a long way to go in this learning process. But so far I am quite pleased with the results.
