Getting into the swing of things ...

And trying to set myself up for success.  Set myself up for reaching goals, I mean.

Yesterday I started working on the DayDreams wall quilt I'm making for my bedroom.

I started my day off with Pat Sloan keeping me company.

Sewing the pieces together.

The first phase of my quilt making.

Looking good so far.

Probably the easiest piece of the whole thing.

First square

All sewn together.

Close to being able to sew this square together.

I was a good girl and went a grabbed a bag of spinning fiber.

Wool fumes is a real thing. ... I opened that bag it the smell just brought me back to when I was first learning to spin.

I weighed it to ensure I had at least 4 ounce to spin this month.

It's so pretty!

In other news, I set up my indoor greenhouse and gathered almost everything I need for seed starting.

And I made a quick little video showing the garden.

Last little bit for this one ...

My son ordered my Christmas gifts and they arrived yesterday.  When he asked me what he wanted for Christmas I said stuff for the garden.

He found me some cute things online and ordered them.

And a planter.

I need to think of what to plant in there.  It will need to be a low growing plant.  Succulents, moss?

Very last thing: I created a blog entry that will list the books I read this year.  A personal goal for this year is that I wanted to read and listen to books again.  The last few years have been very dry and I think my brain is starting to atrophy.  I set it up so there is a direct link to this entry just below the blog header. I did the same with my Goals for 2024 post.

Until next time!

Books for 2024

This is a running list of the books I have read in 2024.  They may be regular old books, audiobooks, or e-books. When I've finished the book I will add my thoughts about the book/story and if I recommend it.

I welcome any books recommendations you may have.  Please let the recommendation in a comment.

This is My Body: A Call to Eucharistic Revival, by Bishop Barron. Added to list 1/3/24

Started: Late 2023

Finished:

7/31/24 update: Still haven't finished it.  I was reading this for a work group thing and when I got sick in March 2024 this book fell off my radar.

Romancing the Ordinary: A Year of Simple Splendor, by Sarah Ban Breathnach. Added to list 1/3/24

Started: Dec. 29, 2023

Finished:

1/2/24: SIL sent me the book.

7/31/24 update: I haven't looked this book past January.  At the time it was no vibing with me.  I do plan to go back to it at a later day and see if I can connect with it.

Star Wars Most Wanted, by Rae Carson - Audiobook, added to list 1/3/24

Started: Dec. 2023

Finished: Jan. 4, 2024

1/3/24: Hubby recommended when I asked for book recommendations.

1/5/24: Finished the audiobook.  I'd recommend if you are a fan of Star Wars.  Since I already knew who Han was it was nice to hear on origin story, if that's the word to use.

Solo, by Mur Lafferty. Added to list 1/6/24

Started: 1/6/24

Finished: 1/19/24

1/6/24: Started listening to story with hubby.   Looks like there might have been a movie?

        Started: 2/3/24

Audiobook. Interesting story.  Didn't care for the ending.

A Single Thread, by Tracy Chevelier
        Started: June 18, 2024
        Finished: June 28, 2024

Audiobook. Book recommendation from Kate at The Novel Stitcher. I enjoyed the story. Not sure what else to write. There was one story line bit that I thought didn't really need to be there. Overall I think it was a good story and have recommended it to a few people.

Audiobook. Random book hubby found on the library e-services.  Story started out all right.  Then it got to the point where I did not care for the story and what direction it was going.  By the time I came to that conclusion I felt invested in the story and wanted to see how it would end. The ending was lame, in my opinion, and not what you expect. I do not recommend.

Update: July 21, so far I enjoy the story and have had a few laugh out loud moments.
