New book - Unwind

A week or so ago I was on GoodReads and I was looking at random books lists trying to find books that are similar to the Hunger Games trilogy. Someone recommended the book 'Unwind,' saying that the book isn't mentioned too much on the books lists but is worth checking out.

Oh wow!

I started reading Unwind tonite and it has blown my mind already.

The gist of the story is that there was a second civil war in the U.S. and what came out of it was the Bill of Life which states life cannot be harmed or destroyed from conception to the age of 13. After a child turns 13 and until the age of 18 they can be 'unwound,' essentially organ harvesting.

There is a spin on this however. Life is not ending, it's just continuing on in a different form.

I have a feeling this book is going to impact my life in some way.

The book is following the paths of three teens who are on their way to the harvest camps to be unwound for different reasons. I'm eager to continue reading this book and see what ultimately happens.

I think the cold finally hit us

Up in my area we have been enjoying some really mild weather for this time of year. It's so mild that I have got the gardening bug. I can't officially start anything until middle March or April. To placate myself I've been reading my gardening books and hitting my local Menard's and getting ready for the garden season

But now ... Now, the weather has changed it's now cold. I don't want to leave the house.

Oh well. ...

On the spinning front: I'm still spinning the fiber I started back in early January. It's lovely fiber. I'm just not in a spinning mood. It's been pretty slow going.

Knitting: I have knit two hats that are 2 x 2 ribbing. I can't believe I decided it was a good idea to make two of those at the same time. Ugh! They turned out pretty nice though.

Would have pics but I don't know where one of them is.

I also finished my sons birthday gift. I made him a Bullet Bill from Mario Bros. I'm not too happy with how it turned out so I doubt I will be posting pics any time soon for that.

Crochet: I have done nothing. That's bad for me since I'm still so new to it. I'm forgetting some of the stitches.

I've been doing some more reading. I got "One for the Money" from the library and I read that within 5 hours. It was a pretty good read. I laughed out loud a few times as well.

On the Kindle finished "Desperate Housedogs." A book in the cozy mystery genre. That was an enjoyable read as well. I'm eager to see how this series continues.

January went fairly quick for me. I have a feeling February will go just as fast.
