Cat Haiku

My SIL sent me these. So cute and funny that I had to share with my readers (ha ha ha ha) :-).

CAT HAIKU. . .

You never feed me.
Perhaps I'll sleep on your face.
That will sure show you.

You must scratch me there!
Yes, above my tail! Behold,
elevator butt.

The rule for today:
Touch my tail, I shred your hand.
New rule tomorrow.

In deep sleep hear sound
cat vomit hairball somewhere
will find in morning.

Grace personified.
I leap into the window.
I meant to do that.

Blur of motion, then --
silence, me, a paper bag.
What is so funny?

The mighty hunter
Returns with gifts of plump birds --
your foot just squashed one.

You're always typing.
Well, let's see you ignore my
sitting on your hands.

My small cardboard box.
You cannot see me if I
can just hide my head.

Terrible battle.
I fought for hours. Come and see!
What's a 'term paper?'

Small brave carnivores
Kill pine cones and mosquitoes,
Fear vacuum cleaner

I want to be close
to you. Can I fit my head
inside your armpit?

Wanna go outside.
Oh, poop! Help! I got outside!
Let me back inside!

Oh no! A Big One
has been trapped by newspaper!
Cat to the rescue!

Humans are so strange.
Mine lies still in bed, then screams;
My claws are not that sharp.

I hate you so much;
Is that the can opener?
I love you so much.

Sleep makes me hungry
I must renew my strength, then
Rest from my labors.

No one is watching;
The kitchen counter is mine!
Joy! Tuna salad!

Doggone it!

Okay, last week I was home sick with the kiddo. Then it snowed on Saturday (???????) then Sunday I decided to try the Hedera socks again. Couldn't even make it past the cuff before I dropped a stitch. Why can't I do this sock? I'm beginning to wonder if I should break down and buy some different DPNs.

Anywho, thanks to being sick the house is a disaster and I decided to pick up the Super secret project. What it is about my picking up knitting needles that makes me DS decide to come bug me. Seriously, lol, it's like a cat hearing the can opener.

It's gorgeous out

No ifs, ands or buts about it. It is gorgeous out. We had such a crummy weekend weatherwise here that I had kind of lost faith that we were gonna have nice weather this week. I took a walk out at lunchtime today and it was nice and warm.

Got both my office windows open.

A coming out of sorts ...

I finally admitted it to someone outside of my "inner circle" that I am a scifi geek, lol.

I don't think she quite knew what to think when I told her my geek flag waves proudly.

When I looked up geek flag this is what I found:

The pride that a geek shows when they describe something that only be appreciated or understood by other geeks.

*sigh* oh well. :-)

No knitting :-(

I'm hittng a lull. I haven't been feeling like knitting. Must be the time of year? I have only two projects going on right now and I just don't feel like working on either one. I guess I've got too much mental "clutter" to wanna work on stuff.

Last week winter had it's last "hurrah." It was nice having a three day weekend and afterwards I realized I hadn't touched my knitting at all :-( How on earth am I supposed to get my gifts done?

*sigh*

I've got it!

Remember the socks I tried knitting in March? The Hedera's. Well, since I didn't "get" that pattern I moved on and made the Blueberry Waffle socks and we know how those are turning out, grrrrr (nothing bad to say against the pattern, just the knitter :-) )

Well, I decided I would make the Branching Out scarf from knitty.com. Naturally I didn't get that either. So I went to a BB and basically said "Help!" They were kind enough to break it down to me and tell me that YO's are just that -- a yarn over, no need to knit after you bring the yarn to the front. As DS would say "Oh mine gosh!" The clouds parted and the sun came out. I GET IT! I so totally get it now. I knew that I had to be doing something wrong but couldn't for the life of me figure it out. I went to knittinghelp.com and had looked at the video showing a YO many times but I since they showed a knit stitch right after doing a YO I thought that is what you did.

Needless to say I am very happy and excited about this now. I can't wait to try the Hedera's again but I'm NOT looking forward to doing the rib stitch at the top. Might not be so bad if they weren't on U.S. size 1 dpns ... :-)

Grrrr :-/

Last night after I got home and took my shoes off I noticed that one of my toes was peeking out of my sock. Darn it! I dropped a stitch.

It's not like I rushed through these socks or anything, but I keep finding more things wrong, lol.

Anyone want some waffles?

I finished up the second blueberry waffle sock last night. THen fixed it this morning. Oy, this is what I get for staying up late to finish something. I bound off the wrong way and it was a real treat to try and get the stitches back on the needles and fix it. Then when I finished it the toe is a blunt end. Oh mine gosh! I put the two up side by side and the second one is an inch shorter than the first.

Lesson learned! Still try the second sock even if you have the number of rows counted that you need. (does that make sense?) I'm sure these will just be around the house/bed socks.

But on the bright side, I have my own pair of socks, lol. I do have a small bit of yarn left over to do minor repairs.

Will post photos later.

Will I have enough?

I'm not moving as fast as I'd like on my second Blueberry Waffle sock. I ended up rolling the remaining yarn into a ball cause I was afraid it would turn into a tangled mess.

I've also seen a pattern I really like for a second pair of socks. It's a J Townsend pattern called pretty petals, I think. If you wanna see a pic of them go here.

And I had a bummer last night. I was looking at the first pair of socks I made. I made them for DS and he hasn't worn them a ton ... well, I found a hole in the heel of one of the socks. Looks like it was a wear spot. That really bums me out. :-( I was kind of expecting it but not so soon. They were made with a mostly acrylic yarn so I guess this kind of confirms to me that you should not use acrylic yarn for making socks. ... Well, I was such a newbie at the time that I didn't know better.
