Knitting Olympics

Or more accurately, knitting *during* the Olympics.

I've been waiting for this night.  It seems so silly but I was.

I really enjoy watching the Olympics and seeing all the athletes presenting their countries and for two weeks or so, the country can get together and show their skills.

I know I'm into it more than my guy and little man.  That's okay.

I even enjoy the commercials and some of them tug at the heart strings for me.  Yes. ... I get sappy during the commercials and the opening ceremonies.  You can't see it but I'm tearing up now.

There was some great knitwear being worn tonite.  Though Team USA. ... That was a bit of a hot mess.  WAY too much going on.  I liked the hats from 2010 much better.

I missed the first part of the opening ceremonies because I thought the program started at 7:30 p.m. CST.  Oops.  Then when the guy from the British Virgin Islands came on and they said he had been living or grew up, in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin I was so startled that I might have kneed my son lightly in the head and my, thankfully empty, knitting needle went flying. On of my friends had just told me about this guy but I had forgotten until I heard the town's name.

My yarn was wound into yarn cakes this evening, right before ceremonies.

Payuma shawl
US size 4 needles
Yarn is Cascade Heritage hand painted sock yarn
Colorway #9926

Thankfully, the first part of the shawl was stockinette.  I decided to stop before it got any more complicated.

Baby chicks are doing fine.  None of my photos turned out however.  Sorry.

The first three seem to be doing great.  I've seen all three eating.  The newest baby still seems to be recovering from hatching.  He's pretty chill and hanging out under mama.

Elvis, meanwhile, has completely lost her broodiness and now kind of paces around the tote sometimes.  I also see her little fro and beady eye above the tote like she's looking to make some sort of escape or she's searching for something.

Tomorrow is going to be a busy day.  My guy is going to be splitting wood and my son and I are going to be hauling the wood. I haven't checked the weather yet.  Hopefully it will be above zero and no wind.

Oh the torch is coming into the stadium! Okay, there they go outside. Very cool torch lighting.  The fireworks are pretty awesome too.

1.  The Olympics.  They make me so happy.  And because of knitting I feel a camaraderie with a bunch of fabulous gals that I do knitting and crochet-alongs with.

2. The final baby has hatched out and he's just as adorable as the rest.  I've noticed that I keep calling them "he's". I should probably stop that.

3. I rocked it at work today and most everything is done for publishing day on Monday.

4. The music from the opening ceremonies.

5. A fabulous lunch with my coworker today.  We decided to get out of the office and enjoy the sun, despite the frigid temps.

Love the color of your shawl! I actually cast on my cowl last night while I watch the opening ceremonies. I was quite pleased with myself. :-) Now to keep going!
